A game of loyalty
BNP Paribas is a leading partner of tennis worldwide. With unrivalled loyalty, we have supported the sport for 45 years, sharing its values of fair play, responsiveness and high performance.
A partner of every kind of tennis
Our Group sponsors some of the world’s foremost sporting events, including being the official sponsor of the Roland Garros French Open. This is just one in a long series of partnerships with tennis tournaments and competitions all around the world.
We have championed the Group’s tennis platform most notably with the Fed Cup, Women’s Tennis Association, BNP Paribas Masters, Monte Carlo Rolex Masters, Internazionali BNL d’Italia, BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Open and Cup, among others.
Beyond these highly publicised major tournaments, we also advocate men’s and women’s tennis, local, family and university events, and parasports events.
In our commitment we have sponsored more than 20 international federations, 2000 tennis club and 550 tournaments both large and small.
BNP Paribas’ unique platform devoted to tennis
In 2011, BNP Paribas created wearetennis.com and its associated social networks, a platform entirely dedicated to tennis news, providing a constant flow of information that covers all players and tournaments around the globe.
In 2016, we launched “We Are Tennis Cup”, an international tennis tournament exclusive to BNP Paribas employees. Each year we call on everyone – whether a novice, regular or advanced player – to join the game and compete against colleagues from across the world for a chance to win a trip to Paris during Roland-Garros. The lucky winners take to the courts in Paris to battle out the top spot. BNP Paribas Japan were named the We Are Tennis Cup champions in 2018.
This unique initiative showcases the enthusiasm of a committed sponsor eager to share its passion for tennis, and provides our employees and global community of fans with the opportunity to be a part of a passionate community.
Billie Jean King Cup by BNP Paribas
The Billie Jean King Cup – formerly known as Federation Cup (1963-1995) and Fed Cup (1995-2020) was launched in 1963 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the International Tennis Federation (ITF). It is now the world’s largest annual international team competition in women’s sport, with 116 nations entering in 2020.
That first Federation Cup attracted entries from 16 nations, a respectable number considering there was no prize money and teams had to meet their own expenses. The rise in entries led to the creation of regional qualifying competitions in 1992 and, subsequently in 1995, Federation Cup adopted a new format and shortened its name to Fed Cup.
Since 2005, BNP Paribas has been the Title Sponsor of this premier team competition in women’s tennis.
